The Architect

British designer Clive Clark has been involved with the game of golf from many different perspectives for decades.

As a designer he has more than 30 golf courses to his credit in both Europe and America. As a player his golf career has included the Walker and Ryder Cup matches, as well as five European tour victories and a third-place finish in the 1967 British Open.

Clark was the head professional at world-renowned Sunningdale Golf Club in England and worked as a BBC Television golf commentator for 18 years.

Most recently, Clark designed Belgrade Lakes Golf Course, rated the #1 course in Maine in 2002, and one of only 12 daily fee courses in the U.S. to receive Golf Digest's 5-star award. As a 5-star award winner, Belgrade Lakes joins other prestigious courses, such as: Pebble Beach in California, the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina; The Challenge at Manele in Hawaii and Timber Ridge in Michigan. Most recently, Clark has designed and completed a new golf course at the Hideaway, which is located in La Quinta, California. The Hideaway is a very exclusive, high-end club with 36-holes, designed by Clive Clark and Pete Dye. The golf course opened in the winter of 2004.

He shares Club creator Bernard Chiu's enthusiasm for the Lake Winnipesaukee site and his vision of creating a course that provides an exceptional golf experience.
